It’s hard to believe that American Lab Rescue has been saving dogs for 16 years. During that time, we have placed over 7,200 dogs with wonderful families.
In those 16 years, we rescued dogs, we paid our bills and at the end of the day rescued more dogs.
This past year it’s been a bit more challenging.
Up until the beginning of 2020 our operating expenses (Vet, boarding, transportation, pull fees, etc.) were covered by a combination of collected adoption fees and donations.
Since that time our expenses have increased well beyond what we collect.
In the last year:
- Boarding Expenses have increased $23,000
- Transportation Costs have increased $21,000
- And Vet Expenses are up $43,000 over 2020 costs
That’s a total increase of over $87,000!
After the first 3+ months of this year we are already in the Red.
Total Operating Expenses are running $40,000 higher than the same time in 2020. Total income is down $14,000.
We need to raise funds to help close this growing gap between increasing expenses and falling income.
Without raising the necessary funds to keep up with our expenses, we will have to reduce the number of dogs that we can rescue.
As you may know, we are 100% volunteer staffed. There are no paid employees. 100% of dollars raised go towards expenses.
We ask that you help us to continue our Mission – rescue dogs in need and find the Forever Homes they each so richly deserve. Any amount will do.
We are also looking for volunteers who are truly interested in helping ALR. We are actively searching for people to assist in fundraising, marketing, and grant writing. Specifically, to come up with ideas and programs for raising funds and commit to running them. We also need people who can research identify and apply for monies that are available to nonprofit groups such as ours.
Your help is needed now more than ever. Without an immediate uptick in our income stream, we will have to slow down rescuing dogs and only rescue what we can pay for.
Thank you all for your continued dedication and support of ALR, we appreciate it. And thank you for taking the time to read this.
